Design of Tramway
Lebanon’s tramway started in April 1908 and was fully decommissioned in 1968. The tramway covered 12 Kilometers around Beirut city’s center. Currently, there is a high demand in Lebanon for a reliable, safe and sustainable public transportation mode. The objective of this project is to revive the old tramway system in Beirut by redesigning the old system, taking into consideration the current urban infrastructure and population distribution inside Beirut. The new tramway system, including stations, should be eco-friendly. In addition, all stations should be designed to enhance public transportation usage and a full intelligent transportation system should be integrated. A feasibility study for the proposed design is required including suggested routes and risks assessment.
