Engineering Scholarship Competition
Welcome to the Engineering Scholarship competition, where only the best of the best compete for a chance to win big upon joining LAU. Do you have what it takes?
We are happy to announce that the competition for this year will take place on Saturday April 5, 2025 at the LAU Byblos campus.
Please read below for some general information regarding the competition. You can also contact the competition organizers at soe.competition@lau.edu.lb
What is it?
The Engineering scholarship competition is an annual event for top high school students that have been accepted to Engineering programs at LAU. Participation in this event will allow them to compete for the chance to gain additional scholarship on their tuition once they join LAU. The competition involves a series of engineering challenges that test the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the participating students.
How can I participate?
If you have applied to one of the BE programs at the LAU School of Engineering by the application deadline, and you are among the top ranked applicants, you will be invited to participate in the event via an email invitation. Therefore, make sure you have completed your application to LAU. Remember, only the very best students will be invited to participate (limited spots)!
What do I need to do to prepare for the competition?
You do not need to study any specific subject material like math or science. The challenges will be based on your ability to solve hands-on engineering problems in a specified time. Therefore, those with the ability to learn quickly, think on-the-spot and come up with unique solutions will perform best.
If I win, how much scholarship will I receive and what are the conditions?
The winners will receive awards that will vary from 10%-30% of their tuition at LAU. This scholarship amount will be added to any other scholarship or financial aid amount you might already receive from LAU. Therefore, it is possible to accumulate several scholarships that could in theory add up to 100%.
The main condition to receive the scholarship, should you be a winner, would be to join the major program that you applied for at LAU (cannot change majors).
When and where is it held?
The competition is held each year in the late March/early April time period on the LAU Byblos campus. The competition is an all-day challenge usually held on a Saturday. Lunch will be provided. During the event, you will also get the chance to meet some of the Professors at the School of Engineering, visit the labs and explore the campus.
Will transportation be provided?
Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to provide transportation for participants. It is also not possible to host the event at the Beirut campus.
