2nd Automotive Engineering Day: Sustainable Transportation in Developing Countries

The Department of Industrial & Mechanical Engineering is hosting its Second Automotive Engineering Day, titled “Sustainable Transportation in Developing Countries”. The is organized by the LAU American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) chapter, under the patronage of H.E. Minister Caesar Abi Khalil and the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water (MOEW).

Short presentations (15-20 minutes) will be followed by a panel discussion (45-60 minutes) with other local and international experts from industry and academia (TNO, Toyota Motor Europe, Vedecom, MOEW, UNDP and LAU). Afternoon sessions are dedicated to automotive engineering workshops with local engineers from Porsche, Toyota and Subaru.

The main themes will be:

  • Sustainable energy systems: the transition from fossil to sustainable fuels
  • Smart cities: mobility, environmental, and sustainable outlook
  • Future energy trends and mitigation actions in transportation
  • Technological developments in the automotive industry towards sustainable mobility
