Research interests

Tribology, particularly Elastohydrodynamic lubrication and its numerical modelling using Finite Element Methods. This type of lubrication is usually encountered in rolling element bearing, gears, cam-followers and other types of moving elements. It involves extremely high contact pressures (reaching several GPa) and very thin lubricating films of a few nanometers. Contacting solids are deformed under such pressures and significant heat generation takes place within the lubricating films owing to the relatively small film thicknesses that are encountered. This problem is multiphysical in nature involving: hydrodynamics, solid mechanics, heat transfer, rheology…
