Elevator Design with Regenerative Braking

In this project design of an elevator with regenerative braking will be proposed. An elevator vertically transports people between different floors of a building. It can benefit from the potential energy resultant from the vertical motion of the cabin and counter weight. However, this is directly dependent on the direction of motion and the difference between the weight of the cabin and that of the counterweight. The design will include an energy harvesting system that will harness the energy that is usually getting dissipated during the braking phase of the motion to be used when needed by the elevator.
