Pharma-Tech: The Digital Solution for all Pharmacies
Traditional pharmacies face multiple challenges such as errors associated with handwritten prescriptions, limited accessibility to patient records, manual inventory management, non-adherence to medications, and finally lack of real-time communication with patients. This capstone project proposes an innovative pharmaceutical management system designed to enhance both patient care and pharmacy operations. The project integrates a mobile app for patients, a comprehensive web portal for pharmacists, and a novel hardware solution for a medication vending machine. The mobile app aims to improve medication adherence by reminding patients to take their prescribed drugs. The pharmacist’s web portal serves multiple functions: it alerts pharmacists about medications nearing expiration, utilizes machine learning algorithms for demand forecasting, and incorporates a camera-based system to monitor customer footfall. The hardware component, a sophisticated vending machine, is designed for dispensing non-prescription medications and serves as an additional storage unit.
