Weather-Smart Single-Axis PV Tracker

Our project addresses Lebanon’s ongoing electricity crisis by maximizing solar energy output through an innovative, cost-efficient tracker that is inclined 24 degrees from the surface and allows individuals to install their solar panels on. The single axis tracking mechanism consists of two strategically positioned LDRs that measure the sun’s intensity and signal the microcontroller to turn towards the side with the highest intensity through a stepping motor. Also a rain sensor is applied to this design to clean the panel which would boost the overall efficiency of the system. Through detailed experimentation, our prototype demonstrated a 31.96% increase in energy production compared to fixed solar systems, proving its potential as a viable solution for sustainable energy needs in Lebanon.
