Reverse engineering workshop

A workshop on “Reverse Engineering” was held on January 12 in LAU’s Industrial Engineering Laboratory. The workshop opened with a presentation on 3D scanning technologies by Mr. Elamir Bahgat, engineering manager at ProMech in Egypt, followed by a video on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Then, the participating faculty and students were introduced to a set of high-tech instruments in the field of reverse engineering, mainly the Handyscan from Creaform. Furthermore, the participants applied the presented concepts and generated a CAD model out of a physical product using CATIA V5 ®.
