ASME/IIE leadership weekend
Twenty industrial and mechanical engineering students, eight IME alumni, and three faculty members gathered on January 7 and 8, 2011 at Beitania, Harissa, for a “Leadership Weekend.” The program included workshops, interactive experience-sharing with IME alumni, and other social activities. Mr. Elie Samia, LAU faculty member and executive director of LAU’s Outreach and Civic Engagement unit, conducted a workshop entitled “Awaken the Leader in You,” together with Mrs. Sarah Bou Ajram from OCE. The workshop addressed such topics as leadership, self-control, discipline, and self-confidence — topics that constitute major tools for students when exposed to the marketplace. Then came the turn of graduates to share their experiences with current students regarding on-the-job problems, duties, challenges, etc. The first day ended with a social gathering that added a friendly spice to the program. On the second day, students were exposed to team skills through a workshop. The weekend ended with a tour of the solar facilities of Beitania.
