Petroleum Geology Lab
This lab. provides the petroleum students at LAU with a hands-on type of learning.
In this lab. rock samples are examined under microscopes with different zooming lenses. Petroleum students can take pictures and record videos of the rock samples on connected PCs using mounted cameras. While learning about polarized filters, students would be able to analyze what the mineral/rock at hand is composed of.
More than 100 samples between minerals and rocks are available in different sizes to provide the student with strong knowledge of geology.
Students learn in this lab. the numerous characteristics of rocks and minerals, including color, chemical composition, hardness, luster, streak, magnetism, etc.
