Visible light communication based indoor positioning for smart buildings
In this project, the target is to work on indoor localization using the visible light communication (VLC) technology as Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights are assumed to be already integrated in such smart buildings especially in areas, halls, and offices in accordance to interior lighting standards. The aim is navigation inside buildings where GPS signals or other means of localization are not accessible. Some of the buildings to consider are airports, offices, residence halls, shopping malls, underground train stations, and hotels. As mentioned, LED lights are everywhere inside the buildings and as they are already installed it would be efficient to use them for positioning in the visible light range of the wavelength spectrum instead of installing low current equipment that work with radio signals.
