Abstract
This work presents a comparative study on the performance of single-axis manual solar photovoltaic (PV) trackers for agricultural applications in Lebanon. Given the rising global energy demand and the critical need for renewable energy sources, this research focuses on optimizing solar PV systems to maximize energy output. The study examines various PV configurations, including fixed panels, three-position single-axis manual trackers, two-position single-axis manual trackers, and dual-axis real-time trackers. Conducted in the Bekaa Valley, a region with high solar potential and significant agricultural activity, the research aims to improve energy efficiency for irrigation and water pumping systems in areas without grid connectivity. By analyzing solar irradiance data and employing MATLAB simulations, the study evaluates the impact of different PV configurations on energy harnessing. The findings highlight the potential for substantial energy gains with optimized PV tracking systems, providing practical insights for enhancing solar energy applications in agriculture and supporting sustainable energy development in Lebanon.
