Design of a Passenger Terminal for a New Cruise Port in Jounieh with a Bus Service to Nearby Tourist Destinations
A new cruise port in Jounieh was proposed by the government to foster a tourism industry in the area. The port is to be located between the Kaslik army base and the Portemilio beach resort, and is intended to attract large cruise ships able to transport 4,000 tourists each. The port consists of a ship docking area and a terminal where passengers can embark and disembark. The terminal would consist of a large hangar with areas for security check, passenger check-in and embarking/disembarking, baggage handling, and customs check, with toilets and parking for staff and visitors nearby. A taxi and bus service area would also need to be located near the terminal entrance/exit to provide rides and tourist excursions for passengers to local destinations.
This project is to design a terminal facility layout to cover activities in all areas in a way to meet the forecasted demand with adequate space and resources, and the design of a schedule for bus service to provide outgoing trips to local destinations.
