Eco-Underground Waste Bunkers (Jbeil Municipality)

The Eco-Underground Waste Bunkers project introduces a modern, sustainable waste-management system designed by engineering students to support Jbeil Municipality’s vision for a cleaner and smarter city. The system replaces traditional street bins with underground bunkers equipped with smart sorting technology, sensors to monitor bin capacity, and a user-friendly interface that guides residents to sort waste into organic, plastic, paper/cardboard, and glass/aluminum. By reducing visual pollution, eliminating odors, preventing vermin, and improving recycling efficiency, this solution enhances urban aesthetics, supports tourism, and promotes environmentally responsible practices across the community.
