Strategic AI Transformation for the Future University
The Strategic AI Transformation for the Future University VIP+ project is a multidisciplinary initiative that aims to reimagine how modern universities operate by integrating advanced artificial intelligence into core institutional functions. The project focuses on designing intelligent systems that enhance decision-making, streamline administrative workflows, personalize student support, and enable data-driven strategic planning. Using techniques ranging from machine learning to large language models, participating students will help build the foundation of a “smart university” that is more efficient, responsive, and student-centered. This initiative brings together expertise from computer engineering and computer science to develop real-world solutions with meaningful institutional impact.
Sample Projects within this Program Include:
- Automated Admissions Screening: Creating AI tools that analyze applications and transcripts to highlight key features and generate concise summaries, helping admissions teams review applications more efficiently, maintain consistency, and focus human attention where it is most needed.
- Predicting Student Enrollment Trends: Developing machine learning models that forecast enrollment demand at both the program and university levels and estimate the likelihood that admitted applicants will enroll, helping institutions allocate resources more effectively, improve strategic planning, and better align offerings with student needs.
- Administrative Support Chatbot: Designing an LLM-driven virtual assistant that responds to common administrative and campus-life inquiries and integrates with university systems, streamlining student services, reducing staff workload, and giving students faster, more consistent access to essential information.
