The minor in Pharmaceutical Engineering program provides students with a unique interdisciplinary knowledge base, empowering them to innovate in drug formulation, drug delivery systems, and drug manufacturing processes. Program Objectives

A graduate with a minor in pharmaceutical engineering will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of chemical and process engineering as they relate to pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing.
  2. Apply relevant techniques in drug formulation, controlled-release systems, quality control, and pharmaceutical process design effectively in practical and research settings.
  3. Identify and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges in drug delivery systems, manufacturing processes, or formulation technologies.

Program Requirements

This minor is restricted to students majoring in Chemical Engineering and Pharmacy. Students must complete 18 credits: 6 core credits and 12 elective credits. Only nine transfer credits from any major can be used toward the Pharmaceutical Engineering minor, and they must be equivalent to courses in the minor. Transfer courses are subject to review by the minor coordinator and subject matter expert. Prerequisite exceptions for non-pharmacy and non-chemical engineering students are subject to review and approval by the Minor Coordinator.
