LiBro: your Automated Librarian

LiBro is a step forward in modernizing library management. This automated librarian is designed to take on tasks traditionally handled by humans, offering greater efficiency and precision. By addressing common challenges in libraries, such as time-consuming book retrieval, accessibility issues, inventory errors, and misplaced items, LiBro simplifies operations while improving the overall user experience.

LiBro is a mobile system inspired by Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS). It combines smooth horizontal and vertical movement with a smart gripping mechanism to handle books with care. Using RFID technology, LiBro accurately identifies books and keeps real-time inventory, helping libraries stay organized and error-free. A computer monitor connected to a keyboard make it easy for users to search for books and request retrieval, while the system organizes and stores books using the Dewey Decimal Classification system.

The aim of this capstone project is to design and implement an innovative, fully automated library system that not only improves efficiency and enhances user experience but also addresses the limitations of existing robotic systems, such as the inability to perform both inventory management and physical book retrieval, lack of precision, and limited adaptability to library environments.
